My Story (Part 5) : Technology in Retail Industry

Recently, I watched a YouTube and I was amazed by one video that showed me the new emerging technology used by the retailers.  It was happen at National Retail Federation Expo in New York. The expo aims to educate people how technology changing the way people shop. It's all about technology.....In the video it show how The Smart Shelf where Microsoft connect with the camera can be programmed. Its very COOL because the TV will instantly play the trailer of the video game whenever customer pick up the CD form the shelf. So, for me its good because its easy for customer to buy what they want without read at the back of the CD cover. Its save time too. The second technology was about the future shopping cart (media cart) which come with the tablet. The media cart helps the customer save their time to shop because the tablet will show every single details about the product. 

The most SUPER COOL among all was the Smart Changing Room Mirror. The RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) that has the sensor to detect the item that the customer bring to the changing room and the item will appear on the screen. the screen will show the model that wear the outfit that customer choose. The customer also can choose the size, the outfit colour and FYI the lighting room also can changed. It's really amazing!!  The technology also used at Prada store. It's actually for security and also to maintain the exclusiveness of their design. Of course the invest lot of money to adopt this kind of technology.

 In the video it also showed that The RFID detect to see where the product move. This is business activity monitoring (real -time event) that enable the business know where the product move, how many times people pick up the item to the dressing room. The last technology that amazed me was the Smart Drink Cooler. It has translucent advertising. It also track how many times the customer open the cooler.

Well I suggest you to watched the video so that you can feel the excitement like I do. In my opinion, technology has good and bad site and its depends on how people used it to make it beneficial towards achieving the quality of life (QOL). Hopefully I can share lot of experience, knowledge in the next post. Ok thanks for reading my post. 

My Story (Part 4): Technology & Gym

Assalamualaikum and hi viewers...

Don't have an idea actually what to post. So finally decided to post about the technology in the Gymnasium. Well i know a little bit about the gym because i used to be a personal trainer.  It was 4 years ago. Kind of interesting job because it helps me keep my body fit and healthy. Now, I am no longer fit like dulu-dulu..Apart from that, I  manage to find new friends from a variety of profession such as lawyer, doctor, lecturer and so on. They are very friendly and one of my client was a doctor. Why I quit the job?? Ok, actually I do love the job but I also want a steady profession and my ambition was to be a lecturer. (Alhamdulillah Allah makbulkan). 

There were many equipment and machine inside the gym. For those who has an experience in the gym for sure you guys know what are treadmills, cable cross machine ,weight plate, dumbell, olympic bar and so on. There were coming in variety of brands and normally the popular brand such as Techno Gym, CYBEX, Life Fitness and so many many brands. My x-Gym used Techno Gym for treadmill. The price normally depends on the brand and the quality of the equipment.

Treadmill helps the user do the cardio training especially for those who does not prefer running on track or at the park. If you can see the above picture show the normal feature of treadmill screen. It also provide you with the button to change the speed, the programmed such as heart rate control program, weigt loss program and so on. High-tech treadmill will provide you with a wireless heart rate transmitter (sensor) that can detect your heart rate by put both of your hand at the handlebar. But the heart rate that appear at the screen sometimes distracted by the radio frequency. So, the heart rate appear on the screen is not really accurate. So, I advice you to used the  heart rate monitor. it comes with/without chest or arm straps. It is actually accurate because it has the sensor that will detect the number of beat per second.Below is the examples of heart rate monitor.

Apart from that, the latest technology used in the making of treadmill and other gym equipment. The treadmill nowadays has attached with the touch screen monitor. It allow you to watch your favorite show or program while running on the treadmill.   Some treadmill allow the user to connect with their smartphones.

MY STORY (Part 3) : Technology & Teaching

Nowadays, education is very challenging. That is my point of view and why I said so?? Because now we are moving parallel with the  technology. Technology, gadget, information system is all around me. I think the word challenging suit me very well because as an educator I need to be more creative during my lecture. So in this entry I love to share with you how I used technology for teaching. For those educator and readers out there you can comment or I will prefer the knowledge & experience sharing so that I can improve my way of teaching.

Ok first of all, I am teaching Sports Science which is an elective subject in the institution. Most of my students are coming from different programs such as Human Resource, Accounting, TESL, Corporate Communication and so on. The subject was offered to Year 1 student and almost 80 percent of my students had just finished the SPM. The other 20 percent offered to semester two students depends on their program structure.   FYI, the age of my student is around 18-21. They are TEENAGERS! and of course I love them as my students. They are YOUNG, ACTIVE, EXCITING, & SMART!!! Yes they are...especially when it comes to discuss about gadget,  technology and social media they act like they know everything. Yes, most of them know almost everything because they love it!
Back to my story, what did 1 do in class in order to grab their attention during the lecture. 


The first thing that I need when do the lecture was a laptop/computer/iPad. Why these gadget? Because it help me in preparing  slideshow in laptop. I normally used the Microsoft Power point for my slideshow. I will make sure that slideshow must have a colour and picture. Thanks to my computer tutor who teach me how to used Powerpoint (read my first entry) . By using the Microsoft Powerpoint I can make my slide show interesting especially when apply the animation and a few transition in the slide show. This is to make my student less boring and focus in my class. Apart from that, my notes will be interesting, (SIMPLE yet INFORMATIVE!)

My second necessities when teaching is the wireless . Because it helps me to find the new info, to Google for new information, read the article and so on. As an educator, I need to topup (my suka hati word) my knowledge especially the new information or knowledge about sports so that the teaching will be more informative. Normally I'll bring my iPad in class. Mr.husband bought me the iPad last year. Well thank you Mr.husband. Love you so much!( Sorry ter'over' plak.). Normally I used the iPad and connect with the wireless to show the new info and I also allow my students to use their smartphones to find for new info. I also used the internet to search the YOUTUBE to show a video to be an example for some topic.

My students will always be excited when it come to do the practical session and show them a video.I also involve my student with technology by giving them a task where they have to record a video of physical test. I will assist them on how to do the task and the rest will be done by the group members. The best part was when watching the video and saw how creative they are and i also can saw the excitement  from all the group members. They will use a different types of smartphones, digital camera, and also another gadget in complete their task. They also a varieties of software in making the video. 



So based on my experience, technology is very important and really helpful in teaching in making the teaching and learning process fun yet informative and also effective because young generations are very close to the technology. As an educator I need to be flexible and creative  in making the learning process more effective. So for me technology helps me a lot. I just learn something from my professor who teach me the Management Information System (MIS 750) for my current MBA class. I really respect him for being very knowledgeable, and also his way of teaching.  He make the technology, IT & information system, something interested to learn  (terer kan..kene menuntut ilmu ni) . Ok the story ends here...as i mentioned earlier this is only my experience and my way in making my teaching process effective.Ok thanks for your reading. 

MY STORY (Part 2) : Technology at Airport

Hi readers,

THROWBACK !!! In 2005, i received an offer letter from UiTM to further my study in Diploma in Sports Study. Yeay!! I jump all around my house..but mom said..(baca elok - elok UiTM mana)..read very carefully UiTM SARAWAK..WHAT????...why so far...huhuhu..then my head start to process the word that i promise during interview session when the lecturer who interviewed me ask whether i will accept the offer if they offer me study at UiTM Sarawak..and of course you will guess the answer ( absolutely YES from me)...im about to cry because i have never been stay far far away form my parents for a very long time.its 3 years ok!  Mom and dad advice me to go and i go...the story its not end yet..

Online Booking Airfares

Ok that is the only intro of my real story..hahaha ok what i would like share is actually how i went to Sarawak...of course la not using kapal selam rite!! hihihi Well said, its time to FLY....(Butterfly fly away so high..Melly Goeslaw song) so in this entry i will share my experience fly with Air Asia & Malaysia Airlines Berhad. (Sarawakian acknowledge it as 'naik belon besar'). Apart form that, i want to share the usefulness of information system during my study's life . 1was only 18 when i received the offer so everything was handled by my elder sister Zarina. Thanks to her. She used her credit card to book my flight ticket. My first flight was Air Asia. I ask her how she book my ticket? she said it was very easy. Just open the Air Asia website and fill up the details like return/depart date, one way/two way, the destination, the number of passenger, time, guest details and do the payment. That's it!! (FAST & FURIOUS lahhh....) ok when i was in the first semester Malaysia Airline Berhad ( formerly known as MAS Airline) offer a discount to student. I did apply for the discount card aka GRADS CARD.  don't have anymore hilang...(rugi tak simpan). If i'm not mistaken  i enjoyed 50% discount for the airfares (banyak ooo.)

Luggage






Now its time to talk about the luggage. Before I depart I need to scan my luggage in the luggage scanner. The technology "wow" me (first time kan..)because i can saw my clothes and other things appear at the screen. This is how the scanner works to detect the threat or unusual thing which is prohibited by the airline management.

Check-in 

Done with my luggage. Now its time to check in to go the departure area. There were two to three officer who scan me and my thing. So that was also a compulsory procedure before they allow me to go to departure area. (Quite nervous la). 

During this time , their scanner detect a scissors in my pencil case and they told me that i cannot bring that scissors with me.(well procedure kan..). Recently, I just noticed that Air -Asia offer a self check in. Click the link below to see the website. Air Asia Self Check-In. This is how the information system work.

The value 

This entry actually try to relate the usefulness of information system in our life. In my point of view, Information System helps me a lot when i study at Sarawak for 3 years. The process of booking the ticket become faster and more effective because I do not have to queue to buy the flight ticket. Recently, one of my friends told me that he just book the ticket form his phone because he has the application that enable him to book the ticket easily. As long as you have the mobile and wireless or internet everything will be like a piece of cake.  In addition, I think self check in is beneficial to both parties because the management system will be more effective for Air Asia and passenger will be more satisfied with the airport management. Customer relationship management also play a major role in maintaining the aviation industry.

MY STORY (Part 1) : A Beginner

Assalamualaikum w.b.t...hi viewers...so this is my first entry. I interested to have my own blog for a long long time ago but I don't know how to do it until I learn the Information System Management (MIS 750) course for my MBA . So I grab the opportunity to learn how to create and write my own story. I am so EXCITED!!  This very first entry is about my experience with the information system. How i get to know the computer, learn the basic of internet and learn about the Microsoft Word 2003 & Power Point 2003.

Honestly,  i'm not good with IT. When  I was 17, I went to take the computer courses in order to get the certificate..well actually my best friend,  Nadiah was the person who encourage me to take that course. Still remember the first day of the session. Can't remember the tutor name but kind of handsome guy that make me become more nervous to learn IT. Okay, straight to the IT story, well the course helps me a lot because the tutor teach us from the most basic knowledge about IT such as the monitor, the keyboard and all kind of hardware..see..now I know what is hardware if not I only know about Tupperware..hahaha..

For the next lesson,  I learn about Microsoft Word. We getting more excited. He teach us how to use the keyboard to type and so on.  It was hard at first but its getting better and better..we are like standard 1 students when we keep asking him like " teacher what is this and that , how to do this, how to use this"..well I consider it as a learning process...hahaha..so now..Microsoft Word is like a piece of cake!! Learn Powerpoint was more interesting than Microsoft Word because it involve the color, design and so on..

A few month later, my friend and I had complete the course and of course the best part was when we receive the certificate from our handsome tutor. Thanks to him because not only for giving IT knowledge to me but for being a good and dedicated tutor. Not to forget my BFF Nadiah who encourage me to take the course...so learn IT is really useful to me.  so this is the end of IT story...see you on the next entries...
